Hand-knotted runner rug is a characteristic Gorakhpur interpretation of the famous Karadja design from the Azerbaijan region of north-west Persia. A well-drawn sequence of medallion lozenges is used on the field panel and complemented by attractive stylised secondary motifs in the geometric style for which the Karadja tradition is known. An appealingly rich and warm palette of harmoniously blended colours perfectly complements the visual character of this rug. The rug is in good condition.
