The somewhat remote but traditionally important knotting region of Kars is located at the far eastern end of the Anatolian knotting region, very close to the border with the Caucasus region. The coveted carpets from Kars, like this outstanding example, therefore usually show a strong Caucasian influence in design and colouring.
