This hand knotted Kula rug from Western Turkey features a classic stepped mihrab design with carefully balanced proportions. The composition is defined by its vertical structure and finely detailed floral and tree of life motifs running along the central axis. Typical for Kula rugs are the warm reds and ochre tones, combined with deep blue and lighter accents, giving the rug a calm and almost architectural presence. The design clearly reflects its original function as a prayer rug. The wool quality is fine with a pleasantly dense pile, making this an elegant and highly authentic example of Anatolian weaving. Professional cleaning is recommended to refresh the colours and preserve the good pile height over time.
