Bukon Bidjar

The renowned master workshop rugs from the ancient Kurdish knotting region of north west Persia have for more than two centuries stood among the most soughtafter and recognisable of the classic Persian categories. Of unique structure, with their firm, extremely hard-wearing texture being achieved by male weavers adept at beating down each knot row to its ultimate degree, the finest Bidjars also almost invariably employ the minutely-detailed herati floral repeat so exquisitely rendered in this lovely example.
