This characterful old Yalameh rug from Southwestern Persia combines the bold geometry of Persian nomadic weaving with an exceptionally refined and balanced design. Traditionally, Yalameh weavers lived a wandering, almost nomadic existence stretching from the northern parts of the Fars province into the Bakhtiari regions of Central Persia. Their highly regarded weavings reveal influences from both the Qashqa'i nomads of Fars and the Bakhtiari village traditions, while still maintaining a unique identity that today represents one of the most admired nomadic weaving traditions in Persian carpet art. This excellent example features a sequence of three diamond shaped medallions arranged in classic pole formation along the vertical axis of the field. The geometric medallions are surrounded by a spontaneous arrangement of stylised plant motifs and finely detailed tribal inspired ornaments, creating a lively yet harmonious decorative effect. Particularly striking is the light, almost pastel toned colour palette, considered a hallmark of the most desirable Yalameh rugs. The combination of vivid red, deep midnight blue, sky blue, ivory, and subtle rose and pastel tones creates a highly decorative presence together with the strong geometric design. The deeply lustrous high quality Yalameh wool adds warmth, softness, and beautiful surface movement to the rug. Thanks to its balanced proportions, this piece works beautifully as a characterful accent in living rooms, libraries, or refined interiors seeking authentic Persian nomadic elegance. A highly decorative old Yalameh rug with timeless appeal, fine wool, and expressive geometric beauty.
