This exceptionally fine Senneh rug from Northern Persia captivates with its elegant precision and remarkably dense knotting. Senneh rugs from the Sanandaj region have been admired for centuries among the finest and most sophisticated Persian weavings, renowned for their intricate patterns and refined drawing. The deep midnight blue field is covered with an exquisitely detailed Herati pattern that creates remarkable visual depth and almost textile-like delicacy. At the centre lies a striking geometric medallion in ivory, terracotta, and sky blue, creating a powerful contrast against the richly patterned field. The harmonious combination of dark blue, warm rust red, ivory, and pale blue tones gives this rug a timeless and highly elegant appearance. Particularly impressive is the extraordinary fineness of the design, achievable only through a very high knot density. Traditionally, Senneh rugs were woven using especially fine wool on cotton foundations and are considered among the technically most refined rugs of Northwestern Persia. The finely ornamented border frames the field beautifully and reinforces the balanced overall composition. Thanks to its elegant proportions, this piece works perfectly as a refined accent in sophisticated living rooms, libraries, or classical interiors. A highly refined hand knotted Senneh rug combining timeless Persian elegance with exceptional craftsmanship and detail.
