A striking and beautifully-crafted bag by a village weaver from the ancient Shahsevan (meaning ‘soldiers of the King’) tribe, inhabiting a Shahsevan hamlet in the Hamadan knotting region (as indicated by the single-wefted structure of the item), following a migration of a part of the tribe from their traditional lands given to them by a Qajar Emperor in the north of the province of Azerbaijan, bordering the Caucasus.
