This is a most attractive and superbly crafted specimen of the flat-woven kelim rugs in the making of which the Meshkin village in Qaqazan-e Gharbi Rural District, in the Central District of Takestan County, Qazvin Province, Iran having created them for their own domestic use over many centuries. The uncluttered design, fresh and airy colours and crisp draughtsmanship which distinguish the best Meshkin kelims are all admirably displayed in this example, which encapsulates all the aesthetic attributes which have made such items of considerable interest to international art collectors.
