Striking Silifike rug from southern Anatolia featuring a clearly structured, rhythmic zigzag design. The repeated arrow and hook motifs give the rug a strong graphic presence with an unexpectedly contemporary feel. Warm reds, ochres and earthy browns are balanced by soft natural tones, all derived from vegetable dyed, hand spun wool that has developed a beautiful patina over time. Typical of Silifike weaving is the well defined field combined with a precisely executed border that calmly frames the composition. The rug is robustly knotted yet refined in expression and shows age related signs of use that enhance its authentic character.
