An immensely appealing nomad prayer rug knotted by the Muswani sub-tribe of the Baluchis, in the remote mountain regions of west Afghanistan. The abstract decorative repertoire favoured by this famous weaving tribe is superbly illustrated in the arched mihrab field, where the primary motif is in fact an extreme stylisation of the vegetal Mihrab. Rich, earthy colours and beautiful, high-lustre native wool further enhance the primitive vigour of this unique tribal item.
