This Belouch rug comes from Afghanistan and is hand-knotted from finely spun natural wool on a cotton foundation. The field displays a regular arrangement of small diamond medallions in warm beige with turquoise centres, set within a deep red and dark blue ornamental framework. A wide border filled with geometric protective symbols gives the rug a strong structure. The pile is pleasantly dense and soft to the touch, and the colours appear balanced and harmonious. The rug is in very good condition and works beautifully as a decorative feature in both living and working spaces.
