This rug was Knotted in the village of Kars Anatolia, this rare and magnificent item represents the most highly valued classification of authentic Anatolian tribal and village rugs, and may be regarded as a masterwork of its kind. Combining a spare, immensely powerful main design, a superb border arrangement of beautifully drawn archaic palmettes, a luxuriously thick and lustrous pile of the finest nomad lambswool and, pre-eminently, a palette of magically rich, vibrant dye shades in which the yellow, red and midnight blue are remarkable, this is a genuine example of Yuruk work of major importance.
