This remarkable Belouch rug from the tribal regions of western Afghanistan combines strong visual impact with refined nomadic craftsmanship. The deep violet brown background creates a dramatic stage for the large geometric gul motifs rendered in rich shades of red, orange, green and aubergine. Although based on a seemingly simple structure, the composition achieves an almost monumental presence, demonstrating the artistic mastery often found in exceptional Balouch weavings. The stylised geometric motifs subtly evoke floral forms and create a rhythmic and harmonious composition across the field. Fine tribal borders with protective and star like motifs add further depth and authenticity to the design. The rug is woven from lustrous high mountain wool with a naturally soft texture and beautiful sheen. Belouch rugs are admired for their tribal symbolism, rich colours and intimate handmade character. This piece works beautifully as a statement rug in living rooms, libraries or interiors with artistic and ethnic influences. A genuine tribal carpet with collector appeal and timeless decorative strength.
