A nomadically hand-knotted Filpa Ersari rug from northern Afghanistan, specifically from the Mazar-e Sharif region. The traditional design features a total of 15 full medallions and 3 half medallions, also known as göls, which are characteristic of the Ersari weaving tradition. The layout is symmetrical, with bold and vibrant colours. The knotting is dense and consistent, reflecting careful craftsmanship. The rug is in very good overall condition and appears to have been well maintained. Only one of the long sides shows minor edge wear, which does not significantly affect its use or appearance.
