In the Iranian-Afghan border area live the Baluch ; this is a collective name for various nomadic tribes of different origins. They subsist on agriculture, carpet production and sheep, goat and camel breeding.
Baluch carpets are related to Afghan and Turkmen carpets. The colors (dark red, dark blue, black and brown) are muted. The patterns with stylized tree of life are geometric.
