A tent rug of tremendous presence, woven by the Taimani carpet nomads from the remote tribal areas of the mountain pastures of western Afghanistan. It is of particular value because it definitively demonstrates how a seemingly simple design can achieve undeniable monumentality in the hands of a master weaver. The field contains various stylised geometric motifs depicting floral forms, arranged into a coherent composition with all the panache for which the Taimani are known.
