The ancient and renowned Kurdish weaving region of Veramin in the north west of Persia has for long been the origin of both rugs and jajims of great technical and decorative distinction, extremely highly valued among discerning connoisseurs for their artistic achievements and superb craftsmanship. Comparable in many respects to the sought-after fine quality works from the nearby region of Bidjar, the jajims of Veramin are associated with a single design style known as the mina khani, as the jajims of Bidjar are associated with the herati pattern. In this outstanding specimen, a lovely allover repeat of the elegant mina khani floral cluster is expressed with all the elegance of spacing and clarity of draughtsmanship indicative of a Veramin jajim flatweave of the most elevated calibre.
