This handwoven kilim from Azerbaijan dates to the 20th century and was made from pure wool using traditional flatweave techniques. The colorful stripes with stylized stars and hooked motifs in strong shades of blue red pink orange and white are characteristic of the region and symbolize protection strength and fertility. The design alternates rhythmically between central medallions and narrow patterned borders giving the kilim a dynamic yet balanced appearance. The wool is dyed with natural plant-based colors creating harmonious and organic tonal variations.
