Adraskani Beloutsch

A tent rug of powerful presence knotted by the Adraskani Belouch nomads from the remote tribal mountain pasturages of western Afghanistan. It is of particular merit for its definitive demonstration of how a design of apparent simplicity can achieve an undeniable monumentality in the hands of a master weaver. The field contains diverse stylised geometric motifs which are representative of floral forms, arranged into a coherent composition with all the panache for which the Adraskani Belouch are renowned. Superbly lustrous high-mountain wool and wonderfully rich, luminous colours contribute still more to this item's outstanding achievement.
