This rare antique Bakhtiari rug in an almost square format of 158 x 132 cm is a highly distinctive collector's piece with strong tribal character and remarkable originality. Particularly unusual is the combination of an Afshar inspired pattern set against a light ivory to almost white background, a feature rarely encountered in older Persian tribal rugs. Afshar rugs are admired for their geometric tribal designs, stylised motifs and bold nomadic visual language. Bakhtiari rugs are among the most celebrated Persian tribal weavings and are appreciated for combining rustic strength with decorative richness. The use of natural vegetable dyes gives the rug depth and beautiful colour variation. Strong reds, blues and vivid tribal details stand out dramatically against the unusually light background. Its almost square proportions create flexibility in placement, whether used beneath a small table, in an entrance area or as a striking decorative centrepiece. The rug remains in original condition with full pile and intact structure. A genuine one of a kind piece for collectors and admirers of authentic Persian nomadic weaving.
