Konya

The totally distinctive colouring, in which a lovely virbant orange is particularly effective, and the gracefully open design of the slender field panel, make this highly attractive item a definitive example of the classic Konya rug which has been knotted in North West Anatolia for at least three centuries. The gabled ends of the field indicate the religious function which is almost invariably present in authentic Konya work. Close knotting, a short pile which gives superb clarity to the design drawing, and wool of outstanding quality, make this a Konya of exceptional accomplishment.
