Bukon Bidjar

The magnificent Kurdish carpets of Bidjar have for long exemplified the most prestigious of all classic Persian village categories, which have gradually evolved into master workshop items of totally distinctive character and quite exceptional quality. The type is immediately recognisable from its dense, board-like handle, this resulting from a multiple-wefted foundation weave and the extreme density of the knotting, which is carried out by male Kurdish weavers of renowned skill.
