An exceptionally rare and highly decorative Kazak runner from the Caucasus featuring striking geometric design and extraordinary colour intensity. This characterful hand knotted piece originates from the historic Caucasian region near the Caspian Sea and embodies the powerful visual language for which Kazak rugs have been admired since the 18th century. Particularly captivating is the luminous blue field which creates a dramatic contrast with the vivid red, dark blue, ivory and white motifs. The large geometric medallions arranged along the central axis give the rug a strong architectural presence while maintaining remarkable clarity and symmetry. The sharply defined motifs and beautifully balanced colour composition are characteristic of high quality Caucasian weaving and give this piece an almost modern graphic appearance. The detailed borders with their traditional geometric ornaments frame the composition harmoniously and further enhance its decorative impact. Especially remarkable is the highly even and precise knotting which allows the bold patterns and vibrant colours to stand out beautifully. The rich use of natural dyes creates many fascinating colour combinations and gives the rug a lively and dynamic presence full of decorative flair. This rare example is also dated and signed, something only occasionally found in Caucasian rugs and an important feature that further increases its collector value. Measuring 225 x 125 cm, this Kazak runner is perfectly suited for entrance halls, corridors, libraries or elegant living spaces. A remarkable Caucasian collector’s piece with timeless character and exceptional visual presence.
