This colourful Belouch gorband from Afghanistan was most likely once part of a larger single weaving and matches article 735323. Such gorbands were traditionally knotted as long continuous bands and later separated for use as tent bands or bag reinforcements. The expressive combination of indigo, red, orange and natural tones is accompanied by rhythmic zigzag lines and small geometric motifs. Handcrafted from wool, the piece shows visible signs of use that enhance its genuine character. A fascinating collector’s fragment with a traceable history.
