Beloutsch

This nomadic Belouch salt bag comes from western Afghanistan or the eastern Iranian border region and is a semi-old piece less than 25 years old. The front is densely hand-knotted wool, while the back is woven in sturdy kilim technique. The deep blue field is highlighted by a striking geometric medallion in vivid red with small turquoise accents, surrounded by lively borders featuring traditional protective motifs. Braided sides and colourful wool tassels at the bottom are typical details of these originally functional tribal bags once used for carrying salt or grain. Minor wear and small irregularities add to its authentic charm.
