This Gorband nomadic saddle bag comes from Afghanistan and was traditionally used for carrying goods over a saddle. The bag is entirely made of wool. The finely knotted front displays a clear geometric sequence of diamonds, triangles and small protective symbols in red, blue, cream and subtle green tones. The back is flatwoven and robust, with well reinforced edges. The original braided wool carrying strap is still present, highlighting the authentic function of this piece. The colours are very well preserved, the wool has a natural sheen and the overall condition is very good with only minor signs of use
