A finely knotted oversized Tabriz carpet with an Ardabil inspired medallion design, referencing one of the most important archetypes of Persian weaving, drawing from the famous Ardabil carpets of the Safavid period, the most renowned example of which is preserved today in the Victoria and Albert Museum and is considered one of the oldest dated and most significant carpets in the world. The deep blue field is densely filled with floral vines, palmettes and finely articulated ornamentation, all structured around a luminous central medallion, creating a balanced and symmetrical composition that reflects the classical court design language of the 16th century. The elaborate border system with repeating cartouches and guard borders frames the field with clarity and rhythm, reinforcing the architectural presence typical of Tabriz weaving. The carpet is in good overall condition, with a small damage at the edge that does not significantly affect the visual impact and can be professionally restored if desired, making this piece a compelling blend of historical reference and decorative strength.
