Something truly special from the Caucasus. This beautiful Leshgi Shirvan rug was newly hand knotted in the region around the city of Baku in Azerbaijan and faithfully follows the design language of the famous antique Leshgi Kazak and Shirvan rugs of the 19th century. Visually and structurally, the rug captures the spirit and tactile quality of an authentic antique Caucasian weaving. Particularly striking is the deep midnight blue field which creates a dramatic contrast with the finely detailed star shaped medallions in red, ivory and beige. The intricate composition with its numerous geometric ornaments, stylised floral motifs and traditional tribal symbols gives the rug an elegant yet powerful appearance. The beautifully detailed borders with geometric and floral elements further enhance its classic Caucasian character. What makes this piece especially remarkable is that it was woven by traditional craftsmen who still preserve the original weaving techniques and patterns of their region. As a result, the rug feels and looks like an antique original while remaining in flawless condition without wear or age related damage. For collectors and admirers of antique Caucasian rugs, this offers a rare opportunity to acquire a newly woven Leshgi Shirvan with authentic character and timeless appeal. Measuring 163 x 138 cm, the rug works beautifully as a centrepiece in living rooms, libraries or sophisticated modern interiors. A highly decorative and collectible Caucasian rug full of personality and craftsmanship.
