The integration of the Hulli Guli design into geometric patterns adds an extra dimension to this flatweave Kilim from Sivas, East Anatolia, the capital of the vilayet of the same name. The city is known for its imposing historical buildings from the Seljuk period and as a centre of carpet production. The carpets of Sivas are characterised by high-quality wool and extremely meticulous knotting, making them some of the most valuable in Anatolia.
