A beautifully coloured Nagorno Karabagh rug from the Caucasus region. The vivid palette with warm reds and a striking blue border is typical for rugs from this area and closely related to Kuba and Shirvan designs. Parts of the wool show natural oxidation, creating an attractive patina and a charming antique appearance. The geometric composition with stylised floral motifs reflects the traditional weaving culture of the southern Caucasus. Hand knotted from durable wool with a pleasant sheen and firm structure.
