Dorokch (also: Doroksch) are Iranian carpets that are knotted by hand and come from north-east Persia in the area of Mashad (Khorossan) and have a good knotting quality of approx. 400-500,000 knots per square metre. A special feature is that Dorokchi carpets are often knotted on both sides. They are available in various patterns. From Nain or Kashan patterns to Turkmen patterns. These carpets are particularly sought after by dealers as they are rather rare and are only occasionally woven in Iran today. These carpets are mostly made of virgin sheep's wool on cotton, but occasionally they are also made of wool on silk.
