A magnificent runner of one of the most renowned and unmistakable of all classic Persian designs, deriving from the Serabend region of Central Persia, here superbly expressed in a luxurious Chhapra weave. The tiny, cone-like motifs, known as mir-i-boteh, which so dramatically embellish the dark field, are both one of the most ancient of Persian ornaments, and one of the most difficult for the weaver to knot. Arranging these delightful emblems with the assured feeling for space and regularity, which contributes so significantly to the visual success of this work, is the mark of a weaver of unusual accomplishment. The angular stem meander in the elegant border is a traditional accompaniment to the Mir field scheme. An item of outstanding beauty and high collectable interest.
