Shasavan

A rare Shahsevan narrow runner, crafted by a skilled village weaver from the ancient Shahsevan tribe, known as the 'soldiers of the King'. This striking piece originates from a Shahsevan hamlet in the Hamadan knotting region, characterized by its single-wefted structure.<br /><br />Following a migration from their traditional lands granted by a Qajar Emperor in the north of Azerbaijan province, bordering the Caucasus, part of the tribe settled in this area. The bold design, crafted with superb pile wool and adorned with rich, luminous colors, showcases the tribe's long-standing excellence in flatweave and rug making.<br /><br />This specimen seamlessly integrates Shahsevan weaving techniques with the surrounding Kurdish culture and sheep herding traditions. A testament to the tribe's history and ingenuity, it exudes robust individuality and a dignified, powerful beauty.
