Exceptionally beautiful Ghom (also known as Qum and Qom). This important knotting centre is about a 3-hour drive south of Tehran and has a special significance for pilgrims. Fatima's mausoleum has a dome which is covered with gold. (Imam Reza's sister). The weaving of carpets began relatively late in the 1930s when the weavers from Tehran came here. Today, Ghom silk carpets are among the best knotted carpets in the world. This is a good example.
