The Saruk (Sarukh, Sarug) comes from the western Ferahan region. The collection centre of these oriental carpets is Sultanabad (Arak). The carpet has a proud past, then declined in quality, but is now regaining great value due to increasing quality and care in production. It can be found in many common sizes. The warp and weft are made of cotton. The sheep's wool pile is inserted using the Persian knot. The knot density is relatively high, 200,000 to 500,000 knots per square metre.
