These carpets are knotted very close to Isfahan. The best wool (often naturally undyed) and Caspian silk make a good Nain carpet. This carpet has between 350,000 - 550,000 thousand knots per square metre. Nain carpets have collector's value and prices are rising steadily. 4La, 6La, 9La stands for the number of warp threads (double in each case) and how often they have been twisted. This is used to determine the quality. So people often say I have a Shish (6) la Nain which means a 2 times twisted with three threads.
